The last newsletter focussed on 2023 and many of the exciting topics from the past year. This time it’s all about what’s in store for us in the new year.
2024 has just begun – which opens up the exciting opportunity to take a look at the year ahead. Many people use this opportunity to not only set personal resolutions, but also to look ahead to upcoming challenges and chances in a professional context.
It’s worth taking a look ahead and seeing what developments and innovations you should be prepared for and what the general outlook is for the industry. For this, we have once again asked our in-house experts at LANG AG for some insights.
Our product managers and sales colleagues are always up to date and can therefore make good forecasts for the coming months. At LANG, we asked around and collected some of these tips and predictions about technology trends as well as product innovations in ProAV for the year 2024. Of course, nobody can predict the future and the collected forecasts are just guesses and personal opinions, but it still is an exciting and even helpful exercise to reflect on the future of the industry.
Our experts agree that the new year will bring lots of novelties and developments to LED:
“2024 will see decisive changes in the LED segment. New technologies will ensure further displacement of LCDs and accordingly also bring movement to the price level of the familiar LED technologies.”
Pablo Ledda, Director International Sales
“Fine pixel pitch will play an increasingly important role in LED. With LUNA, we already have a product for exhibition stand construction in this area, and further exciting developments are planned – you can look forward to the LANG AG booth at ISE 2024 for that. In addition, LUCY is in the starting blocks for the smart transparent LED product segment and will impress with its potential for multi-layered show experiences.”
Manuel Müller, Director Rental
Expectations for the current and very important topic of AV over IP will also remain high – the role of the SMPTE ST 2110 transmission standards will continue to grow:
“The past year has been filled with exciting partnerships that have helped us to further pave the promising path of AV over IP – enabling us to utilise the potential of the latest signal transmission standards more and more effectively and thus continue to work together across manufacturers in the future. SMPTE ST 2110 remains one of the biggest and most important topics in the AV world and LANG AG is preparing for it accordingly.”
Lukas Krück, Director Image Processing & Event IT
“AVoIP was not just a brief trend, it is the present and the future. The Olympic Games will be a driving force and will certainly provide momentum for the topic. Panasonic, Grass Valley, Epson…many well-known manufacturers are continuing to work on solutions for various product areas. And in the end, there’s no way around it.”
Pablo Ledda
“The many proprietary individual solutions for AVoverIP signal connectivity that have been vying for customers’ favour in recent years will have to compete in 2024 with an open standard based on SMPTE 2110, which has been expanded to IPMX for the ProAV market under the direction of AIMS. For me, there is a lot to be said in favour of IPMX.”
Hubertus Beckmann, Technical Director
The expansion in professional video production will not only continue, but will become even greater:
“LANG AG will continue to invest heavily in broadcasting in 2024, thereby strengthening and expanding its pioneering position in this area. The demand for high-end box lenses, for example, is constantly increasing, which is why we are increasing our investments in this area and purchasing more of the impressive Fujinon UA107x8.4BESM-T45, among other things.”
Sven Bauschke, Product Specialist Image Processing & Event IT
Awareness of sustainability will continue to grow – green AV is on everyone’s lips and will become even more important:
“Energy will remain expensive and CO2 needs to be saved more than ever. The EU is obviously also thinking about more specific guidelines in the digital signage sector. I expect to see trends and timeframes for an announcement in 2024 at the latest.”
